Every couple of days online articles from Christianity Today come into my email inbox. Here's an excerpt from an interesting article that discusses the attitude of many American churches toward giving to foreign missions.

Some even worry about the impact on a central discipleship issue for Christians in the West: As committed stewards of considerable wealth, how can we practice charitable giving without creating dependency? Choosing not to give is too easy an answer to this question. In a world where 3 billion people survive on less than $2 a day and nearly that many are still unreached, we simply cannot ignore the Bible's call for generous giving.

Cannibal tribe apologises for eating Methodists « Imitation Reflect

I thought this post was kind of funny. It probably wasn't funny at the time. This is just my attempt at some "missionary gallows humor."

Sorry if my humor offends :)

The four Fijian missionaries were on a proselytising mission on the island of New Britain when they were massacred by Tolai tribesmen in 1878.

They were murdered on the orders of a local warrior chief, Taleli, and were then cooked and eaten.
